These Terms and Conditions govern the contract between *Rays Handyman Services, operating as a **Sole Trader* (referred to as "the Contractor", "I", "me", or "my"), and the client (referred to as "the Customer", "you", or "your") for the provision of home improvement, maintenance, and repair services.
By accepting a quote or instructing me to proceed with work, you agree to be bound by these terms.
• "Services" or "Works" means the handyman, maintenance, or repair tasks I agree to perform as outlined in the estimate, quote, or verbal agreement.
• "Estimate" or "Quote" means the estimated cost of labor and/or materials provided by me before the work begins.
• "Contract" means the legally binding agreement between you and me, incorporating these terms.
• All written quotes are valid for *30 days* from the date of issue.
• An estimate is an approximation of the costs and may vary if unforeseen difficulties arise or if the scope of work changes.
• Any variations or additional work requested by you will be charged at my standard hourly rate plus material costs, unless a separate fixed price is agreed upon.
• *Labor Rates:* I charge a *minimum call-out charge of £35 for the first hour* of work. Any additional time spent on the job thereafter is billed at my standard hourly rate of *£25 per hour* (calculated to the nearest half hour).
• For small jobs (under £300), full payment is due *immediately upon completion* of the work and presentation of the invoice.
• For larger jobs (£300 or above), or where significant materials must be purchased in advance, a deposit of up to *50%* may be required before work begins.
• Payments can be made via *bank transfer or cash*.
• Final payments received later than *48 hours* from the date of invoice completion may be subject to a late payment fee or statutory interest under UK commercial debt rules.
• Unless otherwise agreed in writing, I will supply the standard tools required to complete the job.
• If I supply the materials, the cost will be added to your final invoice. I retain ownership of all supplied materials until the invoice is paid in full.
• If you supply the materials, you are responsible for ensuring they are fit for purpose, present on-site before work begins, and comply with relevant standards. I cannot offer a warranty on materials supplied by the customer.
• You must provide free, safe, and reasonable access to the property and the specific work areas at the scheduled time.
• You must ensure a safe working environment, free from hazards, and keep children and pets away from the work area.
• You are responsible for obtaining any necessary planning permissions, building regulations approvals, or landlord consents required for the work.
• If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, you must give at least *24 hours' notice*.
• Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to my *minimum call-out charge of £35*.
• If I am unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., illness or vehicle breakdown), I will notify you as soon as possible to reschedule.
• I carry Public Liability Insurance to cover accidental damage to your property caused directly by my negligence.
• I warrant that my workmanship will be carried out with reasonable care and skill to standard industry practices. This workmanship warranty is valid for *12 months* from the date of completion.
• This warranty does not cover issues caused by natural wear and tear, customer misuse, structural movement, or pre-existing faults in your property.
• I am not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside my reasonable control (Force Majeure), such as severe weather, material shortages, or utility failures.
• I will only use your personal information (such as name, address, and contact details) to manage your bookings, deliver services, and process payments in compliance with UK data protection laws. Your details will never be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
• These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of *England and Wales*, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the local courts.
